Overview

It is said that Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland, converted pagans to Christianity at a nearby well. To commemorate Saint Patrick's work, a wooden church was built on the site where the St. Patrick's Cathedral now stands. In the early 1200's this church was demolished and replaced with the incredible Cathedral we see today. The prominent Guinness family carried out a full-scale resoration of St. Patrick's Cathedral in the late 1800's after it fell into disrepair after the religious reformation. It is now the only cathedral church in Ireland with daily sung services.
