The Loughcrew Cairns are said to be one of the oldest cemeteries in the world. They offer exquisite insights into Ireland's neolithic past but also pose questions about their thoughts of the afterlife. Similarly to Newgrange, Cairn T which is the largest passage grave on the site, is precisely positioned to flood with light only on a few days each year, in this case during the autumnal equinox. As with Newgrange, these cairns pre-date the pyramids of Egypt by some 2,000 years.
